Are you looking to grow your plumbing business?

Are you forever deliberating the secret to what works?

When most people look at the phrase ‘plumbing business’, they only see the one word – plumbing – and it conjures up images of people fixing taps or fitting boilers.

But the most important part is the ‘business’.

I’ll explain why.

Even most plumbing ‘business’ owners don’t really get it.

And that’s probably why there are so few genuinely wealthy plumbing businesses around.

But given the fact you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you’re one of those people who wants to break the mould?

But Growing A Business ISN’T For Everyone.

You might already be busy enough? Or don’t have the time OR desire to be focusing on growing anything.

That’s absolutely fine, nothing wrong with that.

But if you are, where do you start?

The most obvious thing to think about is how to get new or better customers.

“If I could just bring in some more customers, then we’d make more money and that would be hunky dory…”

Sound familiar?

Admittedly, this is a critical stage that so few are ever able to master and here’s why.

For me you only have a true business when two things happen. You have someone systematically selling something on your behalf and someone else systematically delivering that service without your involvement.

Anything less than this is a job with some hired assistants.

Again, there’s nothing wrong with this.

That model works for many people, and you can earn some good money along the way.

But if you’re one of the crazy few that have your heart set on building a high flying plumbing business that can run without you being there, or is capable of being sold, then you’ll have to put a few things in place first.

Right Now, Can You REALLY Afford To Bring In More Customers?

The biggest mistake, when it comes to doing marketing to bring in more customers, is to look at the business just as it is right now.

Judge how much you can afford to spend on Google Ads, SEO or Facebook Ads based on the slice of the pie that sits uneaten today.

Which for most, not surprisingly, isn’t a huge amount.

Here’s the rub.

You should NOT be paying for your marketing… your customers should.

Your business needs to be able to cover the inevitable cost of advertising and growth.

Cost-wise, you’ll need to factor in:

  • The cost of getting customers (marketing)
  • The cost of advertising in the most lucrative places, such as Google and Facebook
  • The cost of having someone quote jobs
  • The cost of vans, tools and insurance
  • Hiring and paying for a decent engineer, who knows how to do the job
  • Training apprentices to the point where they know how to do the job
  • Staff and HR costs like employment contracts and support

Start factoring in these costs right now (even if you don’t have them today).

Without it the ‘economics’ will be distorted when you come to grow.

When you come to try and scale, you’ll quickly realise that you can’t afford to do marketing.

Or more accurately, you can’t afford to market in the best places.

You’ll be forever feeding off ‘word of mouth’.

Waiting patiently for referrals to come in of their own accord.

The answer is simple to understand.

But harder to put into practice.

Start Acting Like A BIG Plumbing Business TODAY

When it comes to the habits, behaviours and strategies needed to grow a plumbing business, I get the impression that many people don’t understand what it takes.

Or if they do, they choose to ignore it because they are just a small company.

They sacrifice personal income or fail to build healthy profit into the business because they don’t charge enough.

They don’t feel worthy of charging like the big boys even though they’re most likely doing a better job for the customer.

As a result…

They don’t run any marketing or advertising.

They promise themselves, they’ll do these things when they get bigger.

But there’s the problem. It’s only by putting these practices in place TODAY that will enable you to unlock the growth, not the other way round.

Sitting ‘waiting’ for your plumbing business to grow so that you can afford to make it grow just doesn’t make sense.

Ask yourself, what are you doing in your business today that you know you should change?

What can you do right now to increase income and profit?

If you need a hand exploring the ‘proven ways’ to get paid more for the same amount of work, you’re in the right place.

Are You Ready To Start Aiming Higher and Hitting Bigger?

If what you’ve read touched a nerve or sparked a fire in your belly, then there’s a good chance you’re a renegade at heart.

Our ever-growing movement of ‘renegade plumbers’ are throwing away the rule book and bringing in massive change in their business and lives right now as we speak.
